REGISTRATION: May high school teams participate in your Summer and Fall events?
High school teams may participate in the Oasis Invitational and the Fall Classic.
AGE GROUPS: May a strong U15 team play up into a U17 division, or a weaker U17 play down?
Playing "up" is not advised unless your team is one of the strongest at your age group in the nation and has a proven record of being competitive with older age-group teams. Please register for the correct age group, then contact our office if you wish to be considered for such a move. Playing down into a lower age group is never permitted under any circumstances.
AAU ELIGIBILITY: Are birth certificates or AAU cards required to compete in your events?
We do not require birth certificates or AAU cards to compete in our events.
ROSTER: I have already submitted my club basketball roster on the NCAA website. Is it necessary to submit a roster on your site as well?
Yes. The format we use for printing your roster in our Media Guide and Collegiate Recruiting Guides is completely different from that used by the NCAA, therefore it is necessary to submit a roster on both sites.
ROSTER: I have already submitted my club basketball roster on your website. Is it necessary to submit a roster on the NCAA site as well?
Yes. The NCAA requires all club and high school basketball teams competing in NCAA Certified events to enter rosters on its website. Submitting your roster on our site is required but it does not relieve you of the responsibility for submitting your roster to the NCAA. To leave this site and submit your roster on the NCAA site, please click here.
REGISTRATION: I have registered for an event but it does not appear in My Events. What’s wrong?
When you register for an event your status is pending until it is approved by our administration; this typically takes 24 hours during the week or until Monday if you register over a weekend. When registering, remember to click FINISH to submit your registration for approval.
TOURNAMENT PASSES: I would like to buy advance passes for a senior or child but he or she cannot be with me when I pick them up. What should I do?
Children and seniors must be present when picking up tournament passes; if they are not, you will be charged the difference in price between the child/senior pass and the adult one. If you do not believe the child or senior will be available at will call, it is best to wait until you reach the venue to purchase passes.
OPENING CEREMONIES: Can parents attend the Tournament of Champions Opening Ceremonies?
A very limited number of tickets for the Tournament of Champions Opening Ceremonies (September 16 for Volleyball; December 17 for Basketball, Session I; and December 27 for Basketball, Session II) are on available to the public. In 2009, tickets for the general public are $48, but teams needing additional tickets and family members may purchase them online at 50% off ($24). Price includes seated dinner. Please see the Ceremonies page for more information. Tickets are limited and will be removed from the site when sold out.
OPENING CEREMONIES: What is the dress code for the Tournament of Champions Opening Ceremonies?
The Tournament of Champions Opening Ceremonies are semi-formal; skirts, dresses, or slacks for ladies; collared shirts and slacks for gentlemen (jackets and ties optional).
Please no warm-ups, shorts, tees, athletic apparel, or hats.
WAIVERS: Are Waivers of Liability necessary for all events? If so, how do I get them, and how do I submit them?
All student-athletes participating in any of our events must submit Waiver of Liability and Authorization and Consent for Medical Treatment Forms signed by a parent or guardian. These forms are automatically emailed to every athlete on your roster on the final date the roster is due. Coaches must collect completed forms and submit them at the Coaches' Meeting/Registration specified for each event.
WAIVERS: One or more of my players did no turn in their Waivers. What happens?
Student-athletes without legitimately signed Waivers on file will not be allowed to participate, no exceptions. If the athlete's parent or guardian is not available at the event, it may in certain cases be acceptable to have the form faxed to us on site, but we will request verification of signature and the athlete will not be allowed to participate until it is verified. This typically causes the athlete to miss one or more games, so it is advisable to have all Waivers signed and ready at the Coaches' Meeting.
NCAA APPROVAL: Are all coaches required to be approved by the NCAA, and if so, how do I get approved?
All basketball coaches, high school, and club, participating in the Summer Showcase, Oasis Invitational, or Fall Classic, must be approved by the NCAA prior to participation. This is an NCAA requirement and will be strictly enforced by us. Coaches arriving at our events without NCAA approval numbers will not be allowed on the team's bench; they must pay for admission and sit in spectator seating at all times. No exceptions. To apply for NCAA approval, click here. High school volleyball and basketball coaches competing in the Nike Tournament of Champions are exempt from this requirement unless they are competing in one of the other events listed above.
ELIGIBILITY: My team is predominantly U15, but I have one or two players who are older. How should I register?
You should register for the division that best describes the age of the majority of your athletes, but it is acceptable to have one or two players on your roster who are younger or older than the majority. Since these are not AAU events, we do not require birth certificates or have strict age limits by division, although all players must have remaining high school eligibility unless otherwise specified.
ELIGIBILITY: May players who have already graduated high school compete in your club basketball events?
Generally speaking, student-athletes must have remaining high school eligibility to compete in our club basketball events, but in some cases, we will allow individuals who have not verbally committed or signed a National Letter of Intent to an NCAA Division I college or university to participate. If you have an athlete in this situation, please contact us prior to adding her to your roster.
